Tomorrow is day one

Pink and blue clouds at sunset over the water, dark trees in silhouette.

I've been teaching yoga for six years, and I finally have a website.

It took me this long because I kept waiting for it to be ready. The right words, the right photos, one more page before anyone saw it. Somewhere in there I noticed I was doing the opposite of what I teach in class. So I stopped polishing and let it be what it is.

Tomorrow is my birthday, which felt like the right day to open the doors.

What's here right now is small. A home page, an About page with the story of how I got into this, and a way to reach me. No class library, no elaborate booking system. More will come. For now this is the one place to find me, instead of a schedule I've been keeping in my head.

Starting tomorrow, every day in August

The other thing that begins tomorrow morning: I'm teaching live on Insight Timer every day in August. All thirty-one days.

Wherever you are and whatever your day looks like, take a little time to come to this moment together. We move, we breathe, we stretch, or we simply sit. However it shows up, this is a chance to come back to yourself.

Here's the weekly rhythm so you can join the practices that suit you:

  • Monday: Breathwork

  • Tuesday: Slow Flow

  • Wednesday: Yin

  • Thursday: Slow Flow

  • Friday: Yin

  • Saturday: Slow Flow

  • Sunday: Meditation

Sessions run about 20 to 30 minutes, occasionally up to 45 when the practice calls for it. We meet at 7:30am Atlantic Time on weekdays and 8:00am Atlantic on weekends.

No experience needed and no need to keep up. Just arrive as you are and take what you need. Come for one session or come for all of them.

I'm doing this partly because a daily practice is easier to keep when someone else is holding the door open, and that's true for me too. Teaching every day means I'm on the mat every day, which is not always the case in a normal month. I know I'm not the only one who lets it slide when work gets loud.

What class is like

Unhurried, clear cues, nothing to perform. Even in the stronger classes there's no goal to reach and no shape you're supposed to arrive at. You don't need to be flexible, experienced, or calm to start.

That's it. The site is live, the first class is tomorrow at 7:30 Atlantic (10:30am UTC / 6:30am Eastern), and I can't think of a better way to start a birthday.
